Saul & David
Pastor Jeff continues our Epic series by exploring the life of David—a man after God's own heart who also tragically fell into sin. We discover that full devotion means honoring God's reputation with our whole lives, finding refuge in him during our darkest seasons, and recognizing his generous grace through Jesus. We are challenged to guard our hearts against drift, remembering that even the most devoted followers can fall when they stop being vigilant.
Hope Through Honest Prayer
Pastor Brad Holmes explores how God meets us in our darkest moments through David's honest prayer of lament in Psalm 142. We discover the transformative power of bringing our complaints directly to God while holding onto trust in his faithfulness. Through David's example, we learn a three-part framework for honest conversation with God: complaint, asking, and trust. This message challenges us to bring our raw emotions to God, knowing he invites us to express ourselves honestly while anchoring our hope in his unchanging character.
Scandal in the Family Tree
Pastor Aaron Buer continues our "Ancestors of the King" series by examining Matthew's surprising genealogy of Jesus. We explore how Matthew's unexpected inclusion of women, foreigners, and vulnerable people reveals God's heart for all people and his plan of redemption. Through this genealogy, we discover that Jesus is more than just a descendant of Abraham and David—he is the promised Messiah who came to seek and save the lost. We are challenged to reflect God's heart by valuing those society often overlooks and to embrace both his grace and his call to repentance in our own lives.

Resolve
The new year is a great time for starting new. We start eating better, exercising more, reading our Bible more regularly and other things we let our busy lives get behind on. But starting new requires a few things: (1) we understand we are somewhere for a reason and (2) we will be asked to leave something behind. Join us for a two-week series we’re calling RESOLVE. We’ll learn ways to start well as we explore the stories of Esther, David, Elisha and Abraham. Do more in 2024 with your faith and start it with us at church. Week 1: 1 Kings 19:19-21 Week 2: Esther 4:11-16

Beyond the Weekend Devotionals

Thanksgiving
Thousands stand in the shadow of the temple that God’s awesome glory now fills. Solomon pauses to give thanks. He traces this temple back to the promise God made to his father David—a son would build this house ( 2 Samuel 7:12-13 ). Solomon hasn't earned or forced that promise to come true. With his hands still spread toward heaven, he declares, “Lord, you said it, and you did it.” Thanksgiving, for Solomon, is remembering the character of God and declaring what he has done.

David’s Confession
David writes this psalm after the prophet Nathan confronts him about his sin with Bathsheba. David has committed adultery and arranged the death of her husband Uriah to cover it up (2 Samuel 11). For weeks, David hides his sin. But when Nathan exposes it, David humbles himself before God. He doesn't make excuses or shift blame. He turns to God in raw, honest confession. David recognizes that his sin has devastated others, and it’s an offense against God. He throws himself on God's mercy, pleading for forgiveness and a clean heart. David knows he has no right to ask, yet he asks because he knows God's character...

Covenant in Marriage
Paul understands marriage as a covenantal relationship: two partners who make binding promises to each other and work together to reach a common goal. The covenants God makes with humans spread across the pages of the Bible, including Adam and Eve, Abraham, Israel, and David. Paul tells the Ephesians that the covenant of marriage is unique. The promises kept between two imperfect people reveal the kind of relationship God desires to have with his people—one involving self-sacrifice, delight, and honor. Marriage also points to the ultimate covenant keeper, Jesus. Through the cross, believers can find hope...
