Beyond the Weekend: Correcting Spiritual Drift
In Correcting Spiritual Drift, Pastors Jeff Manion and Aaron Buer explore stories from the lives of the Old Testament prophets Elijah and Elisha. This series helps us see the pull toward spiritual drift and motivates us to fight against it. Through the stories, we see God continuing to work and call all people to him even as the people of Israel drift spiritually.

TODAY'S MESSAGE
In Naaman’s story, God places three guides to help him in his physical and spiritual journey toward restoration. The Jewish girl in his home starts him on the journey by telling him he can be healed and how. His second guide is Elisha’s servant who gives him the prophet’s instructions. Naaman’s own servants become his third guide by helping him let go of his pride and take a chance on bathing in the river. None of these guides are high ranking, important people. But all of them are importantly placed and used by God in Naaman’s life.
During the Correcting Spiritual Drift series, we have learned through Elijah and Elisha that God wants us to move toward him and not drift away. Ending with Naaman’s story reminds us of the important role others play in our spiritual journey. We all need guides to help us move toward God, or back to him when we’ve drifted. We also need to be willing guides for others in their journey.
IN YOUR CHAIR TIME TODAY
As you meet with God, thank him for the spiritual guides he’s placed in your life. If you sense the need, ask for a spiritual guide to help you keep moving toward God. Or, ask him to show you someone you can serve as their spiritual guide. Have questions or need help finding a spiritual guide? Email us at btw@adabible.org to start a conversation.
