Beyond the Weekend: EPIC

Stories of Trust, Failure and Faith That Point to Jesus

What does it look like to believe God, not just believe in God? This fall, we're diving into the raw, unfiltered stories of biblical heroes who wrestled with doubt, took dangerous detours, and discovered that trusting God means following him even when you can't see the outcome. Their epic journeys of trust, failure and faith all point to the ultimate hero—Jesus.

Key Messaging Points:

  • There's a difference between believing in God and believing God
  • God speaks in life's detours and disruptions
  • Wrestling with God transforms us
  • Trusting God means obeying before you see the outcome
  • Every story of human struggle points to Jesus

The God Who Sees

Read: Exodus 3:1-7 Listen: Exodus 3

The Lord said, ‘I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering.’” Exodus 3:7

At the burning bush, God reveals himself, his promises and his plan to Moses. The ground is called “holy” not because of the place, but because of God’s presence. Moses responds with respect and awe. God tells Moses that he knows Israel’s suffering. God sees their pain, hears their cries and cares for them. God is about to act and invites Moses to join in his rescue plan.

The same God who met Moses meets us today. He sees our needs and hears our cries. God responded to our greatest suffering through his rescue plan of salvation. As Paul tells Titus, we were once trapped by sin, but when God’s kindness and love appeared, he saved us (Titus 3:4). We didn’t earn or achieve salvation, but God saw that we needed it and sent it to us. In Jesus, he sent the ultimate gift in response to our greatest need.

TODAY: Have you received God’s gift of salvation through Jesus? God’s invitation is open to you. You don’t have to wait until you feel ready or worthy. He is ready to meet you where you are. Put your trust in Jesus today and step into forgiveness, freedom and new life he offers. If you have any questions about what it means to trust and follow Jesus, email us at btw@adabible.org. We’d love to have a conversation with you.
